The franchise began as the Seattle SuperSonics before relocating in 2008 following a dispute between the owner and the lawmakers of Seattle, Washington. Also, the SuperSonics struggled in attendance figures. As part of the relocation, the SuperSonics name and colors will be kept in Seattle for a future NBA club.
