The New Orleans Pelicans are a professional basketball team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The franchise began as the Charlotte Hornets before relocating to New Orleans due to attendance struggles from the final four seasons there. After 21 seasons, the franchise decided to ditch the "Hornets" name and changed it to "Pelicans", although remaining in New Orleans.
